FAQs

What is Fused Glass Art?

Glass fusing is the process by which layers of colored glass are bonded and shaped through heat in a kiln. We handle all of the kiln fusing behind the scenes.

Glass fusing is not the same as glass blowing, and we don’t use a furnace.

What can I make at Glassworks?

Upon arriving at the studio, you begin by picking out a project from over 75 different options. Your selection is based on budget, function, size, and personal needs. Popular options include coasters, cheese boards, picture frames, and serving platters. Once you decide the project, you can create your own design, idea, or pattern with a wide range of materials.

I have never done glass art. What kind of instruction is provided?

Our knowledgeable instructors, who are all glass artists, will give you the information and teach you the skills needed to create your design. After the initial instruction, we are happy to show you more possibilities or answer any further questions you may have.

What happens after finishing my project?

Your project stays at the studio to be kiln fired formed, and processed. About a week after your session, you’ll get a text message from us saying its ready for pickup. Your project will be located at our contact-less pick up shelves in our public hallway, accessible 24/7/365.

Are there other options for getting my project?

1. Shipping direct to your home is available for some (but not all) projects. We use prepaid USPS boxes — so we only charge you what USPS charges us, and only ship what will fit in those boxes.

2. The “Carry it Forward Program” — If we have projects from your area, you’ll bring them to your house for someone to pick-up from you; and then the next group that comes from your location will bring your project back for you!
